Symmetry & Ryan Lewis – The Symmetry / Ryan Lewis LP [2010]

>> Sunday, 21 February 2010

Artist: Symmetry & Ryan Lewis
Release Title: The Symmetry / Ryan Lewis LP
Date Of Release: 2010

Not too long ago Ryan Lewis teamed up with Macklemore for The VS LP and now he teams up with Symmetry for The Symmetry / Ryan Lewis LP.

The duo has somehow managed to evoke just about every decade of popular music, coating each audible memory into a hyper-real representation of an era that never existed, a pastiche of allusions to the roaring 30s, the rock of the 60s and 70s, and the alternative revolution of the early 90s, all accomplished while remaining firmly rooted in the sonics of modern hip hop. Put simply, this may be the only record you’ll ever hear that will both
rattle your sub woofers and make you crave a mint julep.

1. (00:02:32) Symmetry / Ryan Lewis – Back In Business
2. (00:03:10) Symmetry / Ryan Lewis – Down
3. (00:03:04) Symmetry / Ryan Lewis – Feel Right
4. (00:02:58) Symmetry / Ryan Lewis – School Days
5. (00:03:17) Symmetry / Ryan Lewis – Make Me Yours
6. (00:03:11) Symmetry / Ryan Lewis – Fireflies
7. (00:02:20) Symmetry / Ryan Lewis – On Your Toes
8. (00:02:34) Symmetry / Ryan Lewis – Cuttin’ Out
9. (00:03:56) Symmetry / Ryan Lewis – Pardon Me

Ras Kass needs your support!

Upcoming Ras Kass full length “Untitled Project” Limited Edition CD and Vinyl. This brand new 18-20 track project is currently being recorded and is almost finished. We’re keeping the details under raps, but you can expect top notch features and production. Pledge what you can to back the physical pressing of the project. Check out the pledge rewards on the right side, including the Ultra Limited Edition $1200 reward.

First off, thanks to everyone for supporting the Quarterly project on Bandcamp. The money raised from that project went directly to pay for studio time for this project. This time around we’re doing something different than the “choose your price” format. We’re going to release this project as a paid download, but in addition to that, we also want to manufacture 1000 limited edition CDs and 500 limited edition pieces of Vinyl. By backing this project you will be helping to finance the manufacturing of these products.

The project still needs a few finishing touches, but you can expect it to be 18-20 tracks long with high quality production and quality guest appearances. The Vinyl will also feature an exclusive bonus track not featured on the CD. The project is scheduled to be released late SPRING 2010.

Please support this project with any amount you can. If the project goal is not reached by the deadline, the money will not be charged to you, and the pressing of the project may not take place. Cutting and promoting a project actually costs a lot more than $3800, so hopefully we can meet and even exceed the online goal!

Check out the rewards on the right side of this page.

For more information send us a message by using the link on the bottom right corner of this page.

***All rewards include free shipping to your location and are reliant on the goal being reached.

Project location: Los Angeles, CA

Artist: Various Artists
Release Title: The Dills (Unreleased Dilla Blends)
Date Of Release: 2010

For the past few years, Cleveland native/ Brooklyn transplant Terry Urban (yes, that's his real name) has been making some big waves throughout the global DJ and mixtape circuit. From Hong Kong to Houston, Terry has been smashing dance floors world-wide, and his infamous mixtapes and remixes have been getting the respect from such greats as P. Diddy and Kanye West. In a few short but grueling years, Terry has made his way from bedroom DJ to working with some of the industry's most prominent players - ranging from Kanye West to Lupe Fiasco as well as major corporations including Nike, Lrg, Vitamin Water and Budweiser, to name a few.

DOOM - Gazzillion Ear EP Vinyl [2010]

Artist: DOOM
Release Title: Gazzillion Ear EP Vinyl
Date Of Release: 2010

While Born Like This is not without its highlights, DOOM chose wisely in asking producers to remix that album’s finest track in “Gazzillion Ear.” The already-dope beat-changing production by J Dilla gets tackled by the likes of Thom Yorke, Dr. Who Dat?, and Jneiro Jarel. The Radiohead frontman’s wild remix already appeared as an iTunes bonus track, but it’s nice to have it offered here sans DRM. Bedroom beatmakers are catered to, also, as DOOM’s wordplay-intensive verses appear as an a cappella track. Most enticing, though, are the three unreleased tracks. Here’s hoping this is only the beginning of another string of new DOOM projects, such as the oft-delayed Madvillain follow-up and Ghostface collaboration.

01. Gazzillion Ear
02. Gazzillion Ear (Thom Yorke Remix)
03. Gazzillion Ear (Dr Who Dat? Remix)
04. Gazzillion Ear (Jneiro Jarel & Dave Sitek Remix)
05. Gazzillion Ear (Acappella)
06. Gazzillion Ear (Instrumental)

Speakerbox Presents The Underground: February 2010

>> Tuesday, 2 February 2010

As part of the Speakerbox revamp, i have decided to begin doing a monthly artist limelight kind of thing. The artists i feature will not be the Oddisee, Input, Braille and all the others that frequently get posted here. Not because they arn't good but because lets face it, they are pretty well known to any underground head. The artists that i will put up will be guys who are working hard to get to the level that those guys are known. I frequently get emails people asking me to post their music and i thought that it was about time i really did, so that is the point of this new feature to the blog, it's all about giving them some exposure.

The first ever feature for Speakerbox Presents The Underground, for the month of February 2010 is a 20 year old rapper from Baltimore called 810. I had previously not heard any of his stuff before he emailed me and i decided to hit up his Myspace and was pleasantly surprised, hence why he is being posted here. He's got some dope lyrics and a good flow. The music itself has a nice modern contemporary sound which is sure to please a lot of ears. You can go to his Myspace and listen for yourselves. You can also check out his blog where you can download a lot more of his music.
